Boring Bar 2000 & 2500

SPR York’s large diameter boring bars are specially designed for the shipbuilding industry, realizing boring diameters from 406 – 1,829 mm.

The boring bar is chrome plated and has two leadscrews at 180° to feed the cutter head smoothly along the full length. The bars are available in lengths of 9,000 mm (30 in). Both machines are powered by a 40 hp hydraulic power unit that features a hand-held remote control for setting the feeds and speeds.

The Model 2000 machine uses a 203 mm (8 in) diameter boring bar to machine bores from 406 – 1,524 mm (16 – 60 in) diameter.
The Model 2500 machine uses a 254 mm (10 in) diameter boring bar for boring from 711 – 1,829 mm (28 – 72 in) diameter
Spherical roller bearings allow up to 10 degrees of alignment adjustment
30 kW (40 hp) hydraulic power unit producing 4,128 Nm of torque (3,045 ft/lb)

Chromed boring bar with twin lead screws for balanced feeding
Variable bar rotation speed and direction as well as variable feed rate and direction using hand-held remote control
Uses standard carbide tooling with replaceable inserts
Optional facing tool available
